As Jesus traveled and taught, people eagerly sought his wisdom on pressing issues and the way to eternal life. Time and again, his responses challenged and surprised them.
As you get ready to read today’s scripture, take a moment to pause and remember that Jesus is with you. Invite him to speak to you as you listen to his words.
- How does Jesus interact with the Pharisees, the disciples and those who are there to see him?
- What do people want from Jesus in these verses?
“Looking at his disciples, Jesus said, ‘Do you have any idea how difficult it is for people who ‘have it all’ to enter God’s kingdom?’ The disciples couldn’t believe what they were hearing, but Jesus kept on: ‘You can’t imagine how difficult. I’d say it’s easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye than for the rich to get into God’s kingdom.’
That got their attention. ‘Then who has any chance at all?’ they asked.
Jesus was blunt: ‘No chance at all if you think you can pull it off by yourself. Every chance in the world if you let God do it.’"
In his message on Sunday, Eddie shared, “Trying requires confidence in yourself. Trusting requires confidence in Christ.” Pause for a moment and consider the source of your confidence today.
