What is Buddies Ministry?

For many individuals and families in the disability community, getting connected at church isn’t always easy. The unique challenges of living with a disability, or caring for someone who does, can make consistent attendance, involvement, and true belonging feel out of reach.

That’s why we created our Buddies Ministry.

Every Sunday, individuals with special needs are paired with a trained, background-checked volunteer who serves as their “buddy.” Together, they build a consistent, one-on-one relationship in a safe, supportive, and fun environment — so every participant can fully experience worship, community, and the love of Jesus. And the best part? Buddies are available for kids, students and adults.

Our youngest, Hazel, has Down syndrome. Making sure she is fully included with her peers is incredibly important to us. The Buddies Ministry at West Side allows Hazel to get the support she needs while having fun and learning about Jesus right alongside her friends!" - Kendahl

If you or someone you know could benefit from a buddy on Sunday mornings, we’d love to help you get connected.

Be a Buddy

Volunteering on Sunday mornings as a buddy for someone with a disability is a great way to serve. As a buddy, you’ll help create a positive worship experience for your participant and their family. Are you ready to make a difference?
