Baptism is all about death and resurrection.
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.
Romans 6:4-5
The earliest Christian baptisms were full immersions in water, intended to resemble Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection. With this in view, and with God at work in an invisible way through a person’s faith in Jesus, baptism is the 2,000-year-old way of starting one’s life over, being reborn, and claiming the brand new life that Jesus offers to everyone.
