How we show up in our work and family relationships matters. In this section of Ephesians, Paul gives specific instructions to wives, husbands, children, parents, slaves and masters about how they should treat one another. He also reminds them that they have a higher authority to whom they answer. Listen to these challenging words:
“As slaves of Christ, do the will of God with all your heart. Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do, whether we are slaves or free.” Ephesians 6:6b-8
Do a quick heart and gut check about your attitude toward the people you live with and work with. Regarding how you treat others -- What needs to change if you think about being a slave to Christ who works with all your heart? Pause to pray, asking God to be the one who is honored by your work and effort.
