Today we finish the book of Philippians with a few closing words from Paul. See if you can note a remarkable detail that he includes.

Give my greetings to each of God’s holy people—all who belong to Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me send you their greetings. And all the rest of God’s people send you greetings, too, especially those in Caesar’s household.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
Philippians 4:21-23

At first glance, this seems straightforward, but Paul specifically mentions the greetings of people in Caesar’s household. Caesar was the highest official in Rome, which was the government that had arrested Paul. Even though Paul couldn’t travel to spread the Good News of Jesus while imprisoned, he still shared this hopeful reminder that the message of Jesus is for everyone and capable of spreading to EVERYONE.

Take a moment to pause and pray:
  • Ask God to help you remember that his Good News has the power to reach EVERYONE.
  • Ask God to help you to stay connected to his grace and his joy.
If you took notes during the devotionals, take a moment to look back over them. What stands out to you from reading through the book of Philippians? How has God been at work through this regular habit of spending time in his Word?

Practice: Please email stories@wschurch.org to share a quick note about your experience with the devotions from this series. How has God encouraged and challenged you to lean into joy over the past five weeks?
