It is not hard to worry. We all do it. In fact, we often have real and significant concerns that are on our hearts and minds. Paul has some practical things to say about this in today’s verses.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7
It’s simple and practical. Can you take a moment to do precisely this?
- Tell God what you need today.
- Thank him for all he has done.
Paul describes the fruit of this practice as a peace (beyond what we can understand) that forms a protective barrier around our hearts and minds. Take a moment to think about and invite God’s peace to surround your heart and mind today.
Practice: Repeat the simple steps from these verses every time you notice yourself starting to worry today. Let your worry become a prompt to turn to God to ask him for what you need, to thank him for what he has done, and to experience his peace.
