Yesterday we read a bit about Epaphroditus, a mutual friend of Paul and the church in Phillipi. Let’s pick up where we left off.
So I am all the more anxious to send him back to you, for I know you will be glad to see him, and then I will not be so worried about you. Welcome him in the Lord’s love and with great joy, and give him the honor that people like him deserve. For he risked his life for the work of Christ, and he was at the point of death while doing for me what you couldn’t do from far away.
Philippians 2:28-30
Paul asks the church at Philippi to give Epaphroditus a good welcome – with love and great joy and with the honor he deserves. What do you imagine their hospitality to him was like? What are some of the things they may have done to welcome him back? How do you practice hospitality with your neighbors, church friends, and special guests?
Practice: Who do you know who is risking their life (or unconcerned about the personal consequences) for the sake of serving Jesus? Say a prayer for them today.
