Whether you’re an introvert who prefers peace and quiet or an extrovert who loves being social, one thing is true: You were made for connection.
God designed us to experience joy—but not just as isolated individuals. His plan has always been for us to connect to one another in community. The stronger and healthier our connection to God and his community, the more joy we can experience and share. Listen to Paul’s words from Philippians 2.
Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.
Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
Philippians 2:1-4
Pause with each of Paul’s thoughts:
- How have you been encouraged by being loved by Jesus and the church community?
- How can you embrace this call to agreement, love, and unity with other believers?
- What is one way you can practice humility this week?
After you reflect, take a moment to be still. Ask God to help you connect with people today with love and humility.
Practice: Write down 2 people you will see today. What is something they enjoy or value? How can you bless them?
