Throughout his letter to the Ephesians, Paul has been giving the church practical guidance on how to become new in Jesus. He encourages them not to be foolish in their thoughts and behavior, but to invite God’s presence into their lives:
“Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts.” Ephesians 5:17-19
Whether you consider yourself to be musical or not, can you take a moment today to sing? You could sing a simple few lines of a favorite worship song where no one else hears you. You could play a favorite song that we sing at church in the car and sing along in worship. Singing helps connect our physical body with our hearts, mind and soul. Let’s follow this simple, practical encouragement and sing today.
