Yesterday we focused on the truth that we didn’t earn our place in God’s family. Now, let’s look at how we remember that collectively.
There is so much division in the world around us. Unfortunately, even inside the family of God, there can be favoritism and a temptation to choose sides. Take a moment to think about the situations and relationships that are most difficult for you. Today’s passage from Ephesians reminds us that Jesus came to allow equal access to God within his new family.
“But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.
For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us.” Ephesians 2:13-14
Is there a person or a group of people within the church community that you need to view differently? Take a moment to honestly reflect on your own tendency to prefer people like yourself. How can you take a step toward unity? How does Jesus’ willingness to give his life to break down dividing walls challenge you?
