Do you have peace with God? The good news is that Jesus, the visible image of God, the first person above everything else, has made this peace possible.

In an early section of Colossians, Paul switches from his usual writing mode into a poetic song about Jesus and how central he is to God’s plan. The whole poem can be found in Colossians 1:15-20, but here are the final lines:

“For God in all his fullness

was pleased to live in Christ,

and through him God reconciled

   everything to himself.

He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth

by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.” Colossians 1:19-20

This good news is not too good to be true. Take a moment to pause and consider the significance of who Jesus is and what he has made possible.

In what areas of your life do you need God’s peace? Pray now, asking him to deliver peace to those areas.

If you want to follow the full reading plan, read Colossians 1:15-23 today.

As we read through the book of Colossians over the next few weeks, take a moment to watch this 9-minute video from The Bible Project that gives a visual overview of this book.
