Welcome to the text message devotions for our series, Made for This. Each day, we will focus on a few verses of scripture and invite God to show us more about his purpose for us. Over the next five weeks, we’ll read through the books of Colossians and Ephesians. These letters to Christians in the first century hold powerful truths for us today, reminding us what is most important about God’s plan and our part in it.

As Paul begins his letter to the church in the town of Colosse (in modern day Turkey), he says,
“So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.” Colossians 1:9-10

Are there parts of this prayer that you want to ask for – for yourself or for someone else? Would you like God to give you complete knowledge of his will and spiritual wisdom and understanding? Would you like to always honor the Lord with how you live?

Take a moment to pray. Be honest with God, confessing that you need his knowledge, wisdom and understanding.

If you want to follow the full reading plan, read Colossians 1:1-14 today. To find a full reading plan checklist, click here.
